Where have you been Tally Talmud?

Tally Talmud here! I’m sorry for disappearing for so long.

As you know, Torah Games is a nonprofit organization that relies entirely on donations to make educational games.

In the past year I was able to update the website and release 9 games entirely on my own while working part time and on a tight budget.

We have some generous donators that regularly give to us, but recently one of our largest has had to pull out leaving me unable to make regular updates to the site until we secure more funding.

At our current rate it will take around two years until I can start working again at a slower pace.

We need to raise at least $15,000 to start making games again.

I don’t want to sit around and hope for that to happen! I love the work that I have been doing here and will be trying to raise money so I can go back to making torah games again.

Thanks for listening and wish me luck!

Chaim Chumash Level Maker

Chaim Chumash Level Maker v1.3
(Update 6/30/24)

With this tool you’ll be able to make, play and share your own Chaim Chumash levels!

This program is for Windows only, not Chromebooks or Apple computers. I’m sorry if that means you can’t use it, but please don’t ask me to make a web version. I’d like to someday, believe me!

If you want to ask questions about the level editor please read/comment on the Chaim Chumash Level Maker Documentation page. Any questions posted here I’ll respond to but will be deleted eventually to focus more on level making posts.

If you make a level share it in the comments section below.
Please be encouraging and supportive of each other! If you liked someone’s level tell them!
I want to allow anyone to be able to contribute to Chaim Chumash and take the best levels you make and put them in the game!
So all levels posted here are copyleft open to modify, copy, share, and redistribute freely.

Interface Tutorial. Read the Chaim Chumash Level Maker Documentation!
This tutorial shows you how to make the level delivery blocks. (Sorry about the audio quality I’ll do better next time!)

I’ll be updating this page in the future with video tutorials on how to make levels.

Hi, my name is Tally! I’m a talking Talmud AND a game developer!

It’s been almost 1 year since I joined Torah Games! It’s been so much fun, I love meeting fans of the website. People often ask me when is Chaim Chumash going to be finished?

The Original Game! Click to play!

Chaim Chumash is one of our oldest games, a platforming adventure where you learn the words of the Torah. While the game was unfinished, it captured the hearts of Torah Gamers across the world. Who never lost hope that one day someone would pick up the torch and finish the game.
This would be a daunting task, as for various reasons the original game’s code and art would have to be completely remade from scratch.
Well friends, after much effort I have done exactly that and made a brand new Chaim Chumash game.

Vocab System

The Game uses a elaborate system to introduce new words to the player, correct them when they make mistakes, record words they master, run reviews and even in the end scores them based on their performance!
If you want to know more about how the game teaches vocabulary words to the player check out Millim Flash Cards! They use the same system to introduce and teach words.

Millim Flash Cards

Millim Flash Cards v1

Choose a vocabulary list and start practicing!

Flash cards shows you vocabulary words and asks you to find the one with the matching translation.

If you get it wrong you can review your mistake.
Get a word right three times in a row and it will turn gold. You’ve mastered that word and won’t see it again for a while.

After you’ve mastered 6 words you’ll do a review check to see if you still remember them. Get a word wrong and it goes back to the learning deck, get it right and it gets stored away for later. Once you mastered all the words it’s time for a Finals!

The game will ask you to translate every word you have learned one final time and then give you a score at the end on how well you did.

Spelling Birds

Spelling Birds v1.1 (Updates)

In Kriah Katch’em you started learning the names of Hebrew letters, now in Spelling Birds you can practice recognizing Hebrew sounds while building your Hebrew vocabulary.

The game will speak a word, listen carefully and collect the birds in order needed to spell the word.

There are hundreds of vocabulary levels to unlock and play covering the most common words used in the Torah.

Oh I got the last letter wrong! Let me try again!
There we go!

You get one star for completing a level, two stars for making fewer mistakes than the total letters in the word, and three stars if you complete it perfectly.
Try to get lots of stars to unlock future levels!

You can speed the game a bit by toggling on the title screen the yellow coin to lightning.

If you want to hear the word again tap the replay button.

Nekudos Blend

Hi, my name is Tally! I’m a talking Talmud AND a snorkeler!

This is me, exploring the ocean.

Today I dove into the ocean to meet a group of fish who can talk!

These fish had eaten the letters of “Lashon Hakodesh” and now every one of them can speak a little bit of the Holy Language. So cool!

This all started with us getting a letter at Torah Games asking to sponsor the Nekudos Blend game and update it with new features.
Well, Anonymous Benefactor today is the day!

The Nekudos Blend fish have accepted me as one of their own and agreed to show me where to find the best letters to eat.
Oh, also I’ve updated the game. Click the link below to check it out, or tap the updates log link to read what’s new.

Nekudos blend v1.4 (Updates Log)

In Nekudos Blend you learn the sounds letters and nekudos make when you bring them together.

This time I sewed linen onto felt to make the settings.

You can choose which nekudo to practice by checking their corresponding box. Cholam has two choices one for an OH sound and one for OY.

There’s a handy toggle button to turn them all off and on quickly.

You can now skip the intro if you wish.

The big new feature is the option to speak the names of the letters and nekudo! If you’re working on connecting the names with the sounds this will help a lot. I want to thank our Anonymous Donator for requesting this feature.

So what do you think of the new update?
Which letter do you think is the most delicious?
Let me know in the comments!
Till next time~
